About the Learning Workshop

Our Services

We provide a service to address the needs of the children, their parents and teachers who require support, advice and information on how to deal with the various forms of Learning Disabilities.

Many parents are unable to provide private remedial therapy for their children for a number of reasons e.g. both parents or single parent working full-time, financial constraints for long-term remedial lessons. The Learning Workshop provides these parents with the tools required to help their own children in their own homes at a fraction of the normal cost of private lessons and counseling.

We offer:

  • professional online counseling for Learning Disabilities and related problems by a qualified and experienced remedial therapist at a very reasonable fee.
  • answers from our remedial therapist to common questions about
    Learning Disabilities;
  • advice and information on a range of educational topics e.g. homework, study skills, behaviour management;
  • tried and tested activities with downloadable teaching aids for parents who want to help their own children at home.

Meet our Remedial Therapist

Lynn has a BA degree majoring in Education and Psychology, a teaching diploma and a diploma in Remedial Education.
She has more than 15 years of teaching experience in both mainstream and remedial schools, teaching children of all ages with a diverse range and varying degrees of
learning disabilities.

She also co-owned a private practice which specialized in assessing and diagnosing children with learning disabilities, counseling parents and teachers, and drawing up and implementing follow-up therapy programs. She has worked in conjunction with teachers, psychologists and school clinics to deliver the best service possible to parents and children.

Lynn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Learning Workshop, not only as a professional, but also as a mother. Two of her own children had learning disabilities and she is well positioned to empathize with the confusion, frustration, disappointment and helplessness that usually go hand-in-hand with being a parent of an LD child.

Lynn is the author of the book How Can I Help This Child? Her book is a guide for parents and teachers of children with LD and includes many practical activities for parents to help their own children at home. Combining personal and professional understanding of learning disabilities with years of research and teaching enables Lynn to write with authority on the subject.

Lynn lives in Cape Town, South Africa, with her husband and three
teenage children.
